More info about Brew Route
Hey bru, ever travelled the Brew Route? Also known as the Beer Route, this lengthy self-drive route offers beer tasting across the KwaZulu-Natal Province. At least 2 days are required to visit all breweries so the route is likely to appeal to the serious beer drinker, however, the road passes all forms of attraction and can be done as a fun, family road trip. While beer drinkers sip on their favourite tipple, the rest of the family can take in the surrounding sights.
Unfortunately the original first stop which was Firkin Hop House Brewery has closed but there are a number of craft brewers in the area, both established and popup that can act as a worthy replacement.
Next, it’s on to SAB Breweries (now called Anheuser-Busch InBev following a takeover) in Prospecton, 18km south of Durban, where a tour is offered of the facility along with a sampling of 2 beers.
