Kimberley evokes images of diamonds and the Big Hole, but is so much more than that. The capital of the Northern Cape, the appealing Kimberley rose from a shanty frontier town to a modern bustling city and is known as the Diamond City.

Step back in time on a 1910 tram leaving from the impressive City Hall to the Open Mine Museum located next to the Big Hole of Kimberley. The informative museum houses an art gallery, gift shop and a tearoom. Other noteworthy museums to explore are the McGregor Museum and the Freddie Tait Golf Museum or for something quite out of the ordinary follow the Kimberley ghost trail that reveals all the haunted corners of the city.

Venture out of the city to view the awesome display of thousands of flamingos and water birds at Kamfers Dam, take a day trip to Mokala National Park and explore the ancient San art at Wildebeest Kuil Rock Art Centre. Play a round of golf and strike it rich at the fabulous Flamingo Casino.
