Looking to escape the mad craziness that has become every day life? Need desperately to rid yourself of the noise, traffic, pollution, and mayhem that has unfortunately become synonymous with big city life? Don’t want to go to the usual holiday resort and encounter more crowds, more noise, and more mayhem? If this is you and you really want to escape the chaos then there is a relatively unknown diamond in the rough situated in the Eastern Cape that is perfect for you.

Komga – or piece of clay when translated – is just 60km away from the coastal city of East London and is a quaint farming village boasting amazing scenery, clean air, and best of all – no noise! Well there is noise, but those are the sounds emanating from the resplendent natural spectacles that surround Komga such as birds chirping, streams running, and small animals roaming the earth. There are very few noteworthy attractions in these parts as the aim is to really just get away from it all, but there are a handful for you to visit during your stay.

The Anglican Church and Library are both national monuments, while the Col Moore Memorial is just 10km away from Komga; Col Moore was the first South African to be awarded the prestigious Victoria Cross on South African soil. When you want to do some exploration outside of this lovely farming enclave, there are many Eastern Cape attractions not far from Komga. The big city lights of East London are close enough while there are a number of fantastic nature reserves and game parks in the region for you to peruse and explore.
