Karen Blixen Camp in the Masai Mara offers an authentic yesteryear experience for visitors wishing to gain that little extra from their safari
Set on the bank of the Mara River, the location is spectacular. Throughout the day elephants, giraffes, zebras and impalas come for a drink while a large hippo pod rest lazily in the river.
The Camp gives a feeling of the early 1920s era with beautiful and comfortable furniture. You will find that Karen Blixen Camp is a step back in time with the luxury of today.
Karen Blixen Camp comprises 22 large luxury canvas tents each placed with undisturbed view along the Mara River. The stylish restaurant, the reception, the lounge and bar and the gift shop with internet are set on a raised wooden deck and furnished with accurate reproductions of Karen Blixens private furniture to fit in with the cozy atmosphere.
The beautiful laid swimming pool offers relaxation and even a little exercise in-between game drives. Our resident masseuse offers a wide range of wellness and beauty treatments.
Enjoy a drink while overlooking the wildlife at the Mara riverKaren Blixen Camp is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a gin and tonic overlooking the Mara River and the wildlife coming to drink, whilst exchanging stories about the adventures of the day.
Each tent is en-suite and furnished with a large comfortable bed, Persian rugs and a cozy armchair giving you the ultimate in camping luxury. The private bathroom has a flush toilet, twin wash hand basins and a romantic outside shower with amazing view to the sky. Water is heated using solar panels to avoid any use of firewood and thus conserving the Mara Woodlands. Electricity is provided in all tents 24 hours a day by extended solar panel system and battery storing bank.

I love this camp. They take great care of myself and others I take there. Even though the food has not improved over the years I will continue to come back. The camp sits on the banks of the Mara River with hippos laughing day and night, can't get enough.
We visited Karen Blixen Camp to coincide with the Great Migration. This was our first visit to Africa but our travelling companions fifth, and their third stay at Karen Blixen Camp. Karen Blixen was the third safari lodge of a 2 month African trip and was definitely the standout. Solomon and all his staff were exceptional with special mention of Lorna our guide and David our waiter. The glamping tent accommodation is ideal and the endless supply of high quality food and drinks is delicious and waist expanding! Lorna’s skill in locating the animals that we wanted to see each day was exceptional, culminating in a Wilderbeest / Zebra river crossing with a large croc grabbing an easy Zebra lunch. Compared to other safari’s we experienced in South Africa (which we also enjoyed), Karen Blixen Camp and The Mara is our definite favourite…we will return!
Vi hade en fantastisk upplevelse på Karen Blixen Camp. Flodhästar, lejon, giraffer och krokodiler var några av de djur vi såg direkt från tältet, restaurangen och övriga området. Vänlig och generös personal. Vi kände oss omhändertagna och trygga.
Incredible location by the river where you can see hippos all the time. Tents are large, cosy and very nicely furnished. Staff welcoming and nice.
Special mention to our guide Jonathan who drove us throughout Mara North. We had incredible safaris, we saw all big 5, a leopard, a cheetah several times, a gazelle giving birth, absolutely wonderful way to start the new year.

KBC (Karen Blixen Camp - Mara) has an excellent location in the Mara North Conservancy, truly enjoyed the place, service, food as been vegetarians we didn't have to ask for more! Tents are spacious, clean, nice however not the WOW effect, but defiantly good.
Jeg og min søster var her, og det er vores absolutte bedste oplevelse i vores liv. Virkelig skønt personale, og vi kommer helt sikkert tilbage. Man føler sig virkelig velkommen og de står på hovedet for alle deres gæster. Vi er lige kommet hjem, og savner allerede vores Jack, Job, Florence, Benson og alle de andre. Så dejligt et sted at slappe af efter morgen og aften safari, som er en helt vildt utrolig oplevelse.. Jack er virkelig en utrolig safariguide som ved ALT, og man føler sig helt tryg i hans jeep.

Le camp est très bien situé dans la Mara North Conservancy, pas très loin du Maasai Mara. Dik-diks, vervets, tisserins et hippopotames se trouvent dans ou à proximité du camp.
We have had an amazing stay at Karen Blixen Camp. From the moment we arrived, the team led by Solomon have been very welcoming, helpful, and provided a five star service at all times. The food is incredible, in particular we were treated to a traditional Kenyan meal on our last night that we will always remember, and there is plenty of choice for other meals. There’s a lovely spa and pool as well as incredible views and wildlife sightings from the main areas and your rooms. We would also like to give a particular thanks to our Karen Blixen guide Esther - who was brilliant at spotting lions and all other wildlife on our game drives, explaining their habits and looking after us to make the experience special at every turn. Also a special thanks goes to our waiter David who was just fantastic every service. We would hope to return again to experience the magic of Mara North and Karen Blixen, and the team on site.
