Breathtaking panoramic views, major tourist locations, unique African style organic meals and our organic farm are only a few of the delights that await you.
The Greater Addo area is a wonderful place to spend a holiday - this is where 3 industries come together - conservation, tourism and farming, meaning that your stay can be filled with many diverse, rewarding and educational experiences.
Our cottages are safely nestled in the garden, where many indigenous shrubs and trees have been planted. Mornings are filled with varied birdsongs from the more than 60 species that we have seen on the farm.

The cottages are designed to have a low energy demand. The thatched roofs are a delight to sleep under. They retain heat in winter and stay cool in summer. The solar water heaters make use of the hot African sun, and provide you with a relaxing shower after a long day having fun in Addo.
To minimise our impact on the environment even more, we provide guests with soaps and shampoos that are mild on the body and free of harmful chemicals. Our linen is all washed in these ‘green’ products, which are effective cleaners but rapidly and safely biodegrade.

In Room Facilities:

* All rooms are non-smoking, and have an en-suite shower/toilet.
* All rooms have coffee/tea making facilities.
* There are 2 family rooms, each with a double bed and 2 single beds. Cots are available for infants.
* There are 2 double rooms – each has a double bed.
* There are 2 twin rooms. Each has 2 ¾ beds.

Area Information:

Completely overshadowed by the world-renowned Addo Elephant Park, there is actually a little town about an hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth, called Addo.

This small citrus farming community serves mainly as a supplement to the park, offering accommodation and a place to shop before visiting the main attraction - the elephants.

Addo lies in a beautiful part of the world, surrounded by contrasting dense thickets of Spekboom, open grassy patches and the odd wooded kloof. The area is alive with citrus estates, roses and an amazing bird life. The town lies in the Sundays River Valley surrounded by the Zuurberg Mountains that offer some spectacular hiking and horse riding trails, and this part of the world is also a malaria free area, which adds to its attraction.

The 350 elephants in the park are what people travel for from as far afield as Germany to see. Eleven elephants were saved from the brink of extinction in 1931 when the situation in the valley, rife with clashes between farmers and elephants, reached a dangerous level. Crop damage and night raids were the reasons sited for the killing of these beautiful beasts.

Today Addo Elephant Park is also home to Cape buffalo, black rhino, a range of antelope species and sightings, when you find the time to look at your feet rather than scanning the horizon, of the rare flightless dung beetle. In fact the park markets itself as South Africa’s first ‘Big Seven’ reserve. The rhino, lion, elephant, leopard and buffalo’s numbers have swelled to include the southern right whale and great white shark, since the park now extends to the sea and some offshore islands.

We had a lovely time at the Rosedale Farm. The staff were friendly and the host welcoming. The township and train station are close by so this had an impact on the noise at night but other than that the experience was pleasant.

The animals are not scared of the vehicles travelling near them. We experienced some real magic moments in Addo.
