Majestic and monolithic, brooding silently in the distance, Mount Kilimanjaro stands, overwhelmingly beautiful, overlooking Tortilis Camp in the plain below. Nestled in an acacia grove, Tortilis Camp is tucked away from civilization and yet benefits the deserving traveler in every way that you could hope and wish for during your coveted stay. With views over the plains abundant with wildlife, and in the shadow of the mountain, the multiple award-winning Tortilis Camp is the destination of choice in the Amboselli National Park, Kenya.

Accommodation at Tortilis Camp consists of:
Enjoy the grandeur and splendor of the surrounding nature in this tented camp that is shaded by a natural forest of Acacia Tortilis thorn trees. The camp has 17 spacious tents in total, 9 of which have king sized beds, and 8 with twin beds. Designed with nature in mind, the tents blend into the bush, and provide ultimate comfort. The tents are large.

Each tent leads from a bedroom with an expansive king-size or two twin beds through a dressing area into modern bathrooms with pressured hot showers and flush toilets, providing you with a translucent union with nature and yet giving you all the amenities you require. Built up on a wooden deck, each tent is sheltered by a thatched roof that overhangs a veranda, from where views are astounding. Communal delight and entertainment have also been kept in mind: there is a main lounge, bar and dining area, built with natural materials and thatched roofs, with a breathtaking view of Kilimanjaro. A laundry service is available.

Let the views of nature at Tortilis Camp wash over you and bask you under a luxurious African sunset. Take a game drive or go on guided bush walks, use the gorgeous swimming pool, have a relaxing massage, or enjoy a bush meal under the vast African sky. Cultural visits enlighten and delight you as you learn interesting things about a culture close to the earth and the ways of the bush.

Learn more about the wildlife in the area, following the matriarchal elephant herds from the luxury of open-sided Land Rovers; or walk with a trained Maasai guide. Enjoy sundowners on top of Kitirua hill as the sun sets. The tip of distant Kilimanjaro broods pink as the sun sets on a beautiful African landscape. Visit one of the Maasai manyattas (villages) to meet the Maasai women or watch the Morans (young warriors) dance and experience the sights and sounds of their age-old existence as you go close up in this pristine, preserved environment, forgotten by time.

The restaurant and bar overlooks a watering hole where animals like elephants and buck come to drink. Comfortable and clean tented rooms.
Excellent guides who showed us so much wildlife, including elephant and lion! First time for us!
Very good "homecooked" food. We had stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Friendly english speaking staff. A truly magical experience.

The resort is fabulous. Well worth the price paid. The view of Mt. K from the lodges is fantastic! I especially like the open air bar with the wood decor.

Wish we could drive off the beaten path, but I know the driving is limited due to park regulations

Fabulous. 4 out of 5
