Everything is perfect.

Thembelihle is one of the best in Pmb. Would recommend it to anyone. I use it often to book people that I work with from other provinces as well. All impressed.
We have now stayed at Thembelihle on 3 occasions, because it is so convenient for John who runs Comrades.
Next year we will stay there again as we always get good ,warm service. May I make one suggestion? As it is the Comrades weekend, could they cater breakfasts towards that? ie no fried chicken livers for breakfast! Rather mince or bacon; a heavy meal doesn't go down well with the runners. Also, in the past we got lovely cake for afternoon tea. This time we got a few shop bought assorted biscuits. Not quite the same.
Other than that we also request a specific room every time (we book way in advance), and when we arrived she said we must choose a room, which made me think had we arrived later, perhaps the room we requested would already have been taken.
However we do like the place, that's why we return every alternate year for the down run, and have decided that next year after the up run we would rather stay there than at Midmar as in the past.

A bit run down in places and student accommodation operations seem to be proliferating, but not to any great extent in the Ascot /Woodhouse Road area of Scottsville.

The comrades of course, it was the best!
Scottsville is one of the older suburbs in KwaZulu-Natal's capital City, Pietermaritzburg. Within the boundaries of Scottsville are a number of educational institutions, including the University of KwaZulu-Natal [UKZN] and Durban University of Technology [DUT] and a wide range of primary and secondary schools, both independent and state. Schools such as Epworth, St John's, St Charles, Merchiston are situated in the suburb with more in the neighbouring suburb.
One has a choice of 3 shopping centres, where all the major banks are situated plus a number of national supermarket chains. The Suburb has a golf course, horse racing track, sporting fields for various sports such as cricket, rugby, football and hockey. The Golden Horse Casino and Hotel are found here and many other accommodation options, such as Jean-Lee B&B, Ridgeway Close, Aberfeldy and Tancredi. They offer both B&B and self-catering options.
The residents of Scottsville are predominately academic and professional; it is a highly sort after residential suburb. It has easy access to the CBD and the N3 highway.
